Why is this guy so weird?? what can i do?

my crush is the total OPPOSITE of what people say in magazines or what my friends tell me. in a magazine it read that guys like perfume because they wouldnt like to smell a smelly girl so i asked my BFF and she said to do it. so me and my friend both wore a new perfume and he said "u guys smell to girlie"... i cant impress him with my soccer abilities in gym class (hes athletic) because he would say im just trying to show off. the other day he walked up to my friend and hes like "u gys r all matchie matchie all the time" but he was smiling.... what do i do to impress him. hes always the opposite of everything i try to do to impress him.
