Please answer my question, I'll answer any questions you have.?

Yeah I ended things with my recent ex-bf because, I just felt like he and I were better off as friends. not only that but I wasn't ready for a relationship, I still have some unresolved feelings dealing from a recent breakup. After the breakup I didn't contact him for at least 7 days. I knew I should give him some time. When I did finally contact him he seemed fine I wrote a short text message asking how he was doing and he responded that he was doing alright. I apologized to him just a simple sorry and left it at that. About an hour later he called me and he said he had wanted to talk to me about "us" and about the break-up. Which I wasn't too comfortable with (I have a lot of stress going on right now) But, I felt like out of respect for him (he's my best friend) that I should at-least try to explain. bad idea... the minute I started talking was the minute he started yelling at me, asking me why what happened happened, practically cussing at me, just acting ridiculous. I've never seen this side of him before and it really scared me. I thought he was sweet and understanding. He kept asking me again and again and again in an angry tone If we were gonna get back together. To which I replied right now I don't think would be the best time, he made some smart remark which I couldn't hear cuz he mumbled it and then hung up on me. Now here's another problem, I haven't talked to him since then. But, he contacted my best friend today and told me he's gonna come hang out with her tomorrow problem is I'm gonna be with my best friend almost all day tomorrow so I know inevitably I'm going to have to see him. I really don't want to as he hasn't said sorry, I'm still very angry and upset with him. What should I do, or what should I say to him? Or should I even say anything to him maybe just best if I ignore him all together? What would you do if you were in my situation? Thank you for all the answers in advance.
